Gaming Console Registrations
How do I get my gaming console to work on the Nichols ResNET?
- Disconnect all network devices from your network jack (that includes computers, laptops, switches)
- Plug your gaming console directly into the network wall jack using an ethernet patch cable and start it up
- Locate the MAC address of your gaming console by following the instructions below labeled How do I find the MAC Address of my gaming console?
- From any computer already registered on the network visit the following website to register your gaming console: https://cm01.nichols.edu/registration/
- Scroll to the bottom of the screen and select the "GAME DEVICES" Start button to register
- Input your Nichols College username, password, and gaming console MAC address, then select the type of gaming console (e.g. Xbox, Xbox 360, PS2, etc.)
- Select the "Register" button
- If the registration is successfull you can start using the gaming console in a few minutes
- If the registration fails you may need to submit a Helpdesk request at http://help.nichols.edu
- Note: Your gaming console MUST be powered on and plugged into the network for this registration to work
How do I find the MAC Address of my gaming console?
Xbox- With no CD in the tray, turn the Xbox on
- On the Dashboard menu, choose settings.
- On the SETTINGS menu, select Network Settings
- From the NETWORK SETTINGS menu, ensure IP ADDRESS is selected
- On the bottom right hand of the screen, locate and write down the 12-digit MAC address.
- To complete the registration visit http://help.nichols.edu and submit a new helpdesk ticket indicating the recorded MAC address.
Xbox 360
- From the "System" area of the Xbox Dashboard
- Select "Network Settings"
- Select "Edit Settings."
- Select "Additional Settings"
- Select "Advanced Settings"
- On the bottom of this screen you should see a section called "Wired MAC Address"
- To complete the registration visit http://help.nichols.edu and submit a new helpdesk ticket indicating the recorded MAC address.
Playstation 2
- Turn the Playstation 2 on and load the Network Adapter Startup Disc.
- Once this is loaded, select ISP Setup
- As the ISP Setup loads you will be prompted with a license agreement. Select Agree to continue.
- Select Local Area Network (LAN) on the Connect to Internet menu.
- Select Automatic Configuration on the Local Area Network Setup menu.
- On the Connection Test menu select Advanced
- On the Advanced Broadband Settings menu, ensure that Automatic is selected
- On the lower part of the menu, locate and write down the 12-digit MAC address.
- To complete the registration visit http://help.nichols.edu and submit a new helpdesk ticket indicating the recorded MAC address.
Playstation 3
- Select "Settings" from the Media Bar
- Select "System Settings" from the sub-menu
- Select "System Information"
- The MAC address should be the first item labeled "MAC Address"
Wii
- Press the "Wii" button from the Wii Home menu
- Select "Wii Settings"
- Select the right arrow icon to scroll to page 2
- Select "Internet"
- Select "Console Information"
- The console MAC will be the top item labeled "MAC Address"
