Sophos Anti-Virus for Mac
IMPORTANT FIRST STEP - UNINSTALL OLD ANTI-VIRUS APPLICATIONS
- Anti-Virus applications like Sophos should NOT be installed until all other anti-virus applications are uninstalled first
- We strongly suggest uninstalling any anti-virus package before installing Sophos
- If you have anti-virus already installed please refer to the already installed product documentation to properly remove it
Download
- Download Sophos Anti-Virus for Mac using the link below
Sophos for Mac OS X
- This download requires a valid Nichols College username and password (Hint: Same username and password used for Nichols WebMail)
- Enter your username and password after you select the appropriate download, then select "Log In"
- Your Mac may automatically download and start the Sophos installer, if so continue with the "Install" section below
- If the installer does not automatically start, locate the Sophos download and start the installer by double clicking the downloaded file
Install
- Start the installer by selecting it if you have not already done so
- You may receive a warning message similar to below, select "Continue"
- Select "Continue" on the Welcome to the Sophos Anti-Virus Installer window
- Select "Continue" on the Important information window
- Select the Mac hard drive you wish to install Sophos on, then select "Contine"
- Select "Install" on the Standard Install window
- Enter your username and/or password if prompted
- When the Installation is complete select "Close"
Update Sophos Anti-Virus for Mac
- Locate the new Sophos icon and select it, then select "Update Now"
- Sophos will download and install updates, then display a message similar to below when done
